Oki. So results for the course of Managerial Finance have arrived. I must say that our professor, Sheila Killian (University of Limerick, IRL) got them graded within several hours after the final exam finished… Never ever seen before…

Oki, so my grade is 79%. My guess is it should be one of the best results in the class (to be verified later).

Otherwise, i would really love to express sincer thanks to Sheila. Everyone must have loved her since she first told anything with her Irish accent. And then and ever after, she is a deep deep deep but funny and interesting personality. Once more, bravo and thank you!!!

Oki, the grades have arrived for the course of Intercultural Management, taught by Ellen Drost (extremely efficient professor). I scored 83% which means 16th out of 42 students. (Well, if i had got some two points more, i would have been 6th.) But yeahp, anyway it is good, even if it is just exactly tha same as my average (83,47%).

Oki, so briefly about what happened during these three months.

SCHOOL:

Course of Econonomics in July: 83%, one of the best grades.

Course of Intercultural Communication in August: 95% . Best grade I ever got so far, and also the best one out of eighty students who attended the course.

Course of Intercultural Communication and Culture in September: 70%, the worse grade of mine but one of the best one in the class (well, some professors undergrade, that’s it. I enjoyed the course.)

WEBPAGE

There has been some updates done on my webpage www.chleborad.eu so you can for example check a wepage about my courses, and my Finnish, and stuff.

FACEBOOK

You can also find me on the Facebook. I know that no French will do that but please note that Facebook’s gonna be in the french version, too. So you’re not gonna die there because of the english. Same for Czechs…

Oki. We are patient people here at HSE and…   …yeh, what else could we do, nespa? After four weeks of waiting, we got the results from the Principles of Accounting course. Well, four weeks, seems that professor Patten got a btfl holiday. Well, he deserves it. We spent tough three-week module with him, the toughest possible. Within those three weeks, we did as much work as accounting students usually do in one semester:=)))

Well, the policy is like that. The best possible professor for us (the best students?:=))) Hihi. Well, I would say that Mr. Patten does understand the accounting a bit, since he helped develop the accounting rules for this, ehm… for this planet. Basically:=))

accounting.jpg

So what are the results?

My personal score in this course was 72 (9th best out of 44)

The average of the class was 64.

The median of the class was 64.

In the light of those numbers, my score was more than satisfying, even if it is my worst score so far:=)) But let’s say also that i was missing for the first day (graded!) and i couldn’t do two important exercices because of my moving out into my new appartment.

And let’s say that i ought perhaps to revise those different earnings per share. Otherwise, some beloved stockholders might shoot me die… or my boss…  …or both…  hihi:=))

Oki, satisfaction, so let’s go now and let’s tackle that ill-mediatized Hong Kong DisneyWorld:=))

Ohih…

For quite a long time you have seen no photos from this huge & cool nordic country. So now you can have a look on the nearby tow-…   ehm, nearby village of Otava. I like those cycloways in Finland. Well, i like quite bunch of things here, hih:=))

usa_ussr.jpg

Oki. This is City of Otava. Nope, it’s not in Canada. You see, a u.s. car on a soviet looking background. Welcome to the really real old Finland as it shall be:=))

lycee.jpg

House for seniors? No, local high school.

But there ware also some modern buildings in that school. So, the Finnish educational system remains the best one on this planet. Even here.

new_road1.jpg

Density of communications. Well, a typical picture of Finland. Brand-new roads being built in the middle of nowhere. Got a cottage in the woods? No problemo amigo. Our taxes serve just to this: we’re gonna build a road just 4U…

lgv_helsinki-farfareast.jpg

Another communication. So-called “LGV Helsinki – Farfareast”!! Yep, it is on this railroad where those diabolically fast bullet trains freeze during cold cold winters…

Pendolino – Connecting People

 This also connects people…

I have spent the past three weeks taking the course of Intercultural Negotiations tought by Mme Jill Purdy. As a matter of rule, i enjoyed it again even a bit more than the previous courses. Which really proves the qualities of our school.

Unlike 5 (!!) previous more or less technical courses, this one was human-sciences-oriented. Hehe, of course not every even highly skilled programmer can do this. At least not the guy in our school:=))  (But RESTECP 2 him…)

The course consisted of presentations by professor’s presentations. Nevertheless, this course was probably one of the most participative. And for myself, I can say that this time it was funny.

negotiation.jpg

Every day, we were applying some of theoretical concepts in practice = we were negotiating all the time. In pairs, in small groups, in larger groups. There were six graded negotiation exercices. I got numerous roles, such as French VP of a hotel chain buying some auberge in Languedoc-Roussillon or Brazilian manager negotiating a merger with a US chain. I was a desperate US developer from Illinois, a confused Canadian employee in China or a powerfull Japanese cartoon seller in Michigan. I was a French charge d’affaires of Ministry of Industry persuading four villagers to let Disney build a disneyland on their fields (most scary role btw…). I led not-that-much-ethical discussion about my salary bonuses  in US… or about building powerplants in Himalaya. The role that I loved the most was a German VP negotiating a major merger between German, Argentine and Serban companies in wine industry. Negotiation that involved managing discussion with eight other people in three groups, including my own boss:=))

Briefly, it was fun.  The best was that already our class represented a mix of at least 6 nationalities. So, a challenge, a greeeat challenge:=))

Otherwise, the course required also three written tests, and also some class participation and presence…  Well, it was quite difficult for some people to be constantly present, especially around Juhannus (Midsummer’s Day). But it was quite inimaginable not to participate, obviously – also thanks to the professor’s personality:=))

So, the outcome? Well, my grade from this course is 78. In other words, one of the best grades in the class and…   …one of the best courses:=))

But the real intangible outcome is a better understanding how difficult it is to negotiate. It is one of those courses that give you a lot to your future business- and practical life, where you understand clearly that you still got load of things to understand…  :=))
